  • Gained recognition by the Government and other stakeholders

  • Facilitated the establishment of a share company named Ethio-Horti Share which coordinates cargo operations that aimed   to import and supply agricultural inputs and sell to members at better prices, time and required quantity

  • Number of members increased rapidly (currently 66 farms are members of EHPEA).

  • Established partnership, secured financial and technical assistance with the government and donors

  • Advocated and lobbied policy makers on issues pertinent to the  horticulture sector

  • Assist members in solving their day-to-day impediments facing in the process of implementing their investment projects both at pre-operation and operation phases

  • Prepared the second international flower exhibition in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from March 21st - 23rd 2007 in collaboration with HPP exhibitors. The exhibition promoted the Horticulture sector of Ethiopia through the “ New Face of Ethiopia”

  • Launched code of practice in collaboration with sweden chamber of Commerce to encourage Good Agricultural Practice, the Protection of the Environment and Corporate Social Responsibility in all export horticulture and floriculture farms in the country

  • Launched Developed Strategy for the Export oriented Horticulture in Ethiopia in collaboration with the Netherlands Embassy in Ethiopia

  • A project agreement with the Common Fund for Commodity CFC is signed that aims at supporting the small farmers through creating linkage with export sector on out growers scheme including the provision of hardware like cold store and pack house in cluster. An implementation agreement is also signed between EHPEA and Sudanese counterpart, EHPEA being Project Executing Agency (PEA). Currently, necessary preparations are underway to implement the project

  • A local NGO named KULICH Youth and Reproductive Health Development has started awareness raising program in Sebeta and Holeta route

  • Organized visits to farms for Members of Parliament, Heads of States and Top Officials, Ambassadors, other organizations, potential buyers, potential suppliers, consultants, potential investors, students, etc. These visits proved the opportunity for the industry actors to create awareness on the existing Horticulture sector to subside some adverse publicity and wrong perceptions springing from different directions
