The Ethiopian Horticultural Producers and Exporters Association (EHPEA) was established in 2002 as a non-profit making, Non- government organization. EHPEA is the only national association that facilitates horticulture export in the country. It encompasses the whole horticulture sector namely vegetables, fruits and flowers.

During it's establishment EHPEA had faced some challenges for instance, the number of members required to establish an association is five but there were only three. In addition attention was not given to the sector at that time since nobody knew about its advantages.

But now it is affiliated to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Department of International Development (DFID), CBI Netherlands and the French Development Cooperation. In Addition it has developed linkages with the Different government offices, Institutions, Ethiopian Airlines and local banks. It has also explored linkages with business enterprises in Africa, Middle East, Europe and the USA.

Currently EHPEA has 77 members and the number is increasing from time to time. Members are required to be duly registered or licensed and actively engaged as producer exporters of horticultural(flowers and other ornamental plants, fruits, vegetable, herbs, etc ) products in Ethiopia.

EHPEA is managed by five Board Members who are elected by the General Assembly of members. For running its day-to-day activities, EHPEA has an Executive Director and other supportive staffs. The association is working towards developing and expanding the sector for the benefit of the country.
